I stick the cards (links to the 2 files below) around the room, students write a short introduction to the work and prepare a suitable table in their exercise books. They then move round the lab gathering the relevant information. I then allow about 15 min for discussion and writing the conclusion - the 6 basic ways that plants and animals adapt to winter i.e. migrate, pupate, hibernate, increase body weight and grow longer fur, store food in roots, lose leaves and form buds.
